Robert J. Dargis has been an attorney for over 25 years, earning his law degree from Loyola University of Chicago in 1982. He also has a degree in business management from Northern Illinois University. He began his legal career with the City of Chicago where he specialized in defending the City of Chicago police officers in Civil Rights lawsuits and in Appellate practice. He then spent 4 years with another firm where he practiced business litigation and a variety of personal injury litigation. He joined Richard F. Mallen in 1992. He has over 50 trials and has successfully brought and defended appeals in more than 30 cases, including cases before the Illinois Supreme Court and the Federal 7th Circuit Court of Appeals.

After an extensive evaluation by the Chicago Bar Association in the year 2000 for the position of Associate Judge in the Circuit Court of Cook County, the Chicago Bar Association Judicial Evaluation Committee stated of Mr. Dargis: "The candidate has extensive trial experience and is well regarded for his fine demeanor, legal ability and temperament.
